Heart Healing Based on the Word of God
Our approach to heart healing is firmly rooted in the Word of God. In Luke 4:18, Jesus declared that He was sent to heal the brokenhearted. If Christ came to bring healing to the broken in heart, then through faith in His completed work of redemption, we too can minister healing in His name.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised”
-Luke 4:18
About This Ministry
The Greek word for “heal” in this passage is iaomai (pronounced ee-ah'-om-ahee). It is an active verb used in reference to both physical and emotional healing. Iaomai means:
To cure or heal
To make whole
To free from errors and sins
To bring about salvation
Healing is not just a physical act—it’s part of your salvation, encompassing both your soul and body.
Healing the brokenhearted is a form of the gift of healing, as described in 1 Corinthians 12, where Paul refers to the gifts of healings (plural). This suggests that healing can take various forms—including emotional and spiritual restoration.
It’s important to understand what heart healing is not:
It is not the healing of memories—rather, it is the healing of the pain tied to a person's brokenness.
It is not counseling—counseling involves human listening and advice. Heart healing involves spiritual listening, discerning what the Holy Spirit is doing in a person’s heart.
It does not correct or dismiss a person’s feelings or pain.
A true minister of heart healing seeks to see people set free from their brokenness for the glory of God. It is a compassionate, Spirit-led process that invites the presence of Jesus into wounded places so that He may bring lasting healing.
